“Melbourne’s very own Reggae Superstars” (PBS FM) are back in NSW by popular demand, touring off the back of their massive national album launch for RED ARMY.

Forthcoming ACT, Sydney and Newcastle dates include: Transit Bar, Canberra (Thurs 9 Sept), Manly Fishos, Manly (Fri 10 Sept), Beach Rd Hotel, Bondi (Sat 11 Sept) winding up at the Wickham Park Hotel, Newcastle (Sun 12 Sept).

It hasn’t been all bonding road trips as The Red Eyes tour their new sounds up and down the country by van. Kicking off their album launch tour in May, the boys haven’t really stood still… and the invitations keep on coming, including a spot in the inaugural Melbourne Music Week (Oct) and the Pacific Rhythm’s Festival (Fiji, November) to name a couple.

Northcote Social Club 31 July

July 12th, 2010 by The Red Eyes received Comments Off

Friday May 21 saw the official release of the long awaited album RED ARMY. The Red Eyes – “Melbourne’s very own Reggae Superstars” (PBS FM) – blew the roof of Melbourne’s The Corner Hotel in an album launch extraordinaire. The packed crowd enjoyed the even bigger line up than usual, and highlights included the four piece horn section and the spine-tingling duet with Red Eyes lead singer El Witeri and the magic Kylie Auldist from The Bamboos.

Back by popular demand, The Red Eyes will perform an encore Melbourne show at Northcote Social Club on Sat 31 July. They will also appear at The Loft, Warnambool on Fri 30 July, Sandbelt in Moorabin on Fri 6 Aug, and The Village Green in Glen Waverley on Sat 7 Aug.

The long awaited 2nd studio album for the band RED ARMY has already received critical acclaim, including ‘Album of the week’ on Radio Australia and PBS FM. Described as ‘a cracker of a Dub/Reggae album’ (The Age) and ‘full of character, tight, catchy and brimming with soul’ (Inpress) – this new album is set to eclipse their past three releases, seeing them forge forward with their unique and alternative blend of Dub/Reggae grooves.

“Red Army is a solid record from this crew, one which shows them for what they are – a group on their own tangent, doing their own thing within a genre dominated by filler. A new chapter has opened for The Red Eyes – it’s a chapter they’re writing on the run, but a chapter that I daresay won’t be the last.” (Samuel J Fell, May 2010.)
